Other Items
Here is a summary of the items we tasted during our 3 visits to the Novotel Siam Square.
Items during the Omakase Festivities

An exclusive menu choice limited to 1 item per person. If you don’t get this item, don’t be surprised as they are constantly changed (I repeat here again that the restaurant changes its menu constantly).

Salmon, Tuna, Prawn and Salmon Roe Donburi
A bowl of mixed sashimi on rice served with seaweed. This dish was quite mild, but the fish was tasty and had a good texture, but the amount of rice was quite extensive.

Snow Crab and Crab Paste Japanese Rice Set
Very good crab paste, rich, with no untoward smell, richly topped with salmon roe and crab meat. Highly recommended.

Japanese Eel and Salmon Aburi Sushi
Eel and salmon sushi, large pieces of fish, with an appropriate amount of rice, sweet aromatic sauce, which goes very well with a little spiciness from the wasabi. Delicious.
Out of these 3 items, we liked the crab paste the most.
Seafood

Grilled items and seafood corner. Notify the chef of your table number and they will serve it right to your table.

Grilled River Prawns
Fairly large, fresh, moderately greasy. Conveniently sliced. Liked it.

Steamed Crab
The meat is sweet but not so firm. The types of crabs that are available will alternate between meaty crabs and flower crabs.
Scallops
Satisfyingly fresh, but a bit salty.
Squid
Fresh, good texture, mild salty taste.
Prawns
The meat was firm, but the dish we were served looked a bit dry and overcooked.

Mantis Shrimp
The meat was firm and mildly sweet. The shell was easy to peel off. Excellent.
Japanese

Sashimi
Salmon and tuna were available. It was not too nicely sliced, but it was fresh enough. Acceptable.
Donburi
Topped with crab sticks, salmon, shrimp roe, and Japanese omelet (Tamagoyaki). The rice wasn’t sour enough, but when dipped in soy sauce and wasabi, it was delicious enough.

Sushi and Rolls
The rice was not too packed and soggy. The fish was medium thick. Didn’t look inviting, but it’s better than it looks.
Thai, Spicy Salads and Som Tum
Thai cuisine, spicy salads and som tum, were cooked to perfection. Some dishes were even very spicy. This is another corner in which the items are changed constantly, except for the pickled salmon which we encountered on every of our visits.

“Leng”
Or spicy pork bone soup, was meaty enough. Flavorful but a bit mild for our liking. For those who like spiciness, the restaurant also provides additional seasonings to add to the soup according to your preference.

Pickled Salmon in Soy Sauce
The salmon was good and soft and came with a light soy sauce flavor. It may not be as delicious as specialty seafood restaurants, but we liked it. Try it.

Salmon Spicy Salad
Tender salmon spicily cooked into a salad. Absolutely great.
Noodles

Cutely-decorated noodle stall located right at the restaurant’s entrance.
Beef Soup
The beef was a bit tough to chew, but the stewed meat is satisfyingly soft, good meatballs, mild soup with a slight aroma of Chinese herbs.
Chinese

Crispy Chashu Pork
Crispy skin, not too dry, with melted fat, mild salty taste. Goes well with mustard, sweet soy sauce, or seafood dipping sauce.

Pork Dumplings
Consisted of 50-50 pork and shrimp, sprinkled with crunchy shrimp eggs. The flour wasn’t too thick.

“Hargao” Shrimp Dumplings
Lots of shrimp (some pieces even came with whole shrimps), wrapped in a thin translucent flour batter. Delicious, but the shrimp was not so chewy.
Western Dishes and Steak

Leg of Lamb
Tender, but requires a bit of chewing. Distinctly salty taste, with a slight lamb smell. It is served in large pieces which you have to slice into smaller bite sizes before eating. If not, it would be definitely tiring to chew the whole piece.

Sirloin
Soft, with a slight whiff of beef. It is served in large pieces, like the leg of lamb, which you have to slice into smaller bite sizes before eating.
Truffle Soup
Fragrant with a slight greasiness. Not so salty and comes with a few morsels of truffle. It could be better if it was a bit creamier.

Pizza
Mushroom sauce pizza, thin crust, lightly salty flavor with a slight truffle smell. Enjoy it while it’s hot so to maintain the crispiness of the dough.

Freshly Cooked Pasta with Truffle Sauce
Choose your preferred pasta to go with your favorite sauce. The chef will cook it hot.
We love cheese, so we ordered the truffle sauce. When the pasta is cooked, the chef will mix it in a large lump of cheese. It had a mild salty taste with a light truffle scent. Very satisfying cheesy taste.

Smoked Salmon
Soft, smooth texture, perfectly smoked and salted, without the overwhelming smoky aroma.

Cheese Corner
A small cheese corner, which we didn’t have the opportunity to try it yet.
Desserts

Served in small cups which makes tasting several items convenient. Many items were more delicious than expected. Must try.
Brownies
Dark bitter chocolate, heavy, moderately sweet, I personally like it.
Grilled Banana
Naturally sweet. The meat was not too dry. It’s an item that most people are not interested in, but I like it.
Mango and Sticky Rice
Juicy coconut sticky rice with sweet and sour mango, which can be ordered at the pastry chef.
Shokupan
Buttered toast topped with ice cream. Dry bread with a distinct butter aroma, perfectly paired with ice cream. Delicious, but quite heavy on the stomach.
