Overview of the Great Harbour ICONSIAM

Great Harbour International Buffet at ICONSIAM

Pros

• Wide variety of high-quality food choices.
• The restaurant was beautifully decorated, airy, very spacious, and can accommodate at least 400 seats.
• Very impressive dessert buffet line, delicious bakery items, Haagen-Dazs ice cream.
• Convenient parking.

Cons

• On the day of review, the sashimi was not so impressive. We only liked the cobia.
• Some of the items were too cool. If eaten warm, it could be much more delicious.
• Oysters / Grilled Prawns are only limited to 2 pieces per serving but can be continuously requested.

The Great Harbor International Buffet has something for everyone: Thai, Chinese, Western, and seafood. Though it may not be outstanding, but the taste is good enough to warrant a visit.

The restaurant is attractively decorated, spacious, and does feel stuffy. Ample parking space is available as it is located within ICONSIAM.

An a-la-carte buffet is available for weekday lunches where diners are to make orders from their tables, with access to about 70 menu items. Full option buffet is available for dinner and weekends and consists of about 80 menu items.

However, if normal weekdays see reservations of more than 70 seats, the restaurant will open up the full buffet line.

If interested, you can reserve directly with the restaurant based on the regular price of 999++ baht.

We made our reservations through the Hungry Hub app and got the same price, but it also included additional special items.

View the menu or make your reservations here. No immediate payments are needed, and you also have the option to cancel at any time.

Other Menu Items

Listed below are some of the items that we tried out on our visit, and just a small portion of the extensive items that they have available. Regrettably, we forgot to try out the grilled river prawn T_T.

We hope our list can provide you with a guideline on what they have on offer.

Special Menu for Hungry Hub users

Hamachi sashimi

We booked through the Hungry Hub app and received a special menu item; i.e. the Hamachi sashimi, which turned out not to be as fresh as we expect, and we think that we would be better off tasting other items.

However, the item may be fresher on other days depending on what day the restaurant receives the fish.

Thai Cuisine

Wagyu Beef Boat Noodles

Wagyu Beef Boat Noodles
The big chunks of beef were soft and of high-quality and can be ordered as a soup without any noodles. The dish also included soft and tender stewed tendons.

Unfortunately, the broth was not full-flavored as we expected and additional flavoring was needed.

Massaman Curry

Massaman Curry
Fragrant with cooling spices, soft and tender meat, mild flavor, and goes quite well with a little roti dough.

Stir-fried Spicy Spaghetti (Spaghetti Khi-mao)

Stir-fried Spicy Spaghetti (Spaghetti Khi-mao)
A generous serving of good chewy pasta, though a bit oily, but the flavor is clear, intense, fragrant, and spicy.

Seafood

Seafood on ice, include oysters, Pacific white shrimps, and New Zealand mussels.

Seafood Oysters White Shrimp and Mussels

Oysters
Fresh and comes with lots of chunky meat. High quality. Though we are only given 2 oysters per serving, but we can request for unlimited servings.

White Shrimp and Mussels
Fresh. Recommended for anyone who likes it.

Japanese Cuisine

Wagyu Sushi

Wagyu Sushi
Soft and thin slices, not too tough. Rice was not soggy, sauce was mild, and some diners might need to add more soy sauce for additional flavoring. This item is recommended.

Sashimi

Sashimi
On the day of our review, we tried out the salmon, tuna, crab sticks, octopus, saba (Japanese style grilled mackerel), scallops, and cobia.

We think that the cobia and Hamachi are the best. As for the scallops and the octopus, was not quite up to our expectations and we think it would be better trying out other items.

If you are thinking of filling up with only the sashimi, we don’t recommend it. ^^’

Western Cuisine

Duck Breast with Orange Sauce

Duck Breast with Orange Sauce
Soft and tender, not too dry, slightly thick skin, but not oily. Sweet orange sauce with a distinct orange aroma.

German Pork Knuckle and Sausages

German Pork Knuckle
Excellent. Crispy skin, soft and tender meat. Smoky aroma, and quite oily.

Sausages
White, tight skin, mild flavor.
Red sausage, chili-like fragrance, lightly spicy.

Mushroom Soup and croissant

Mushroom Soup
The soup was ok, but the accompanying croissant was a bit firm and not sufficiently buttery.

Honey Ham
Soft and fragrant. Goes well with sweet and sour sauce.

Leg of lamb
No undesirable stench. Tender meat. Served with pepper sauce. Acceptable.

Carbonara Pasta

Carbonara Pasta
Rich and creamy. The pasta was soft and not soggy. Generous serving of pasta and cheese, with no meat.

Cheese Baked Penne

Cheese Baked Penne
Fragrant tomato sauce, with a little spiciness. Sprinkled with slightly salted and greasy cheese. This dish tastes very good.

Beef Steak with Truffle Sauce

Beef Steak with Truffle Sauce
Tender meat, aromatic truffle sauce, and the smell of soft grilled beef. Very mild flavor and had to depend on additional sauce flavoring.

Pineapple Pork Steak

Pineapple Pork Steak
Mild sauce and accompanied with the aroma of pineapple and bell peppers. It was a bit over-cooked. Not recommended.

Salmon Steak

Salmon Steak
Grilled salmon, crispy skin and juicy meat. Those who are sensitive to the smell of salmon may not like it. Goes well with the balsamic topping, or you can just dip it in seafood sauce.

Chinese Cuisine

Roasted duck, red pork, Chinese sausage

Roasted Duck Crepe
Looks like a Peking duck and consists of a crepe batter wrapped around duck meat and cucumber, with a separate topping sauce.

The duck meat was soft and tender without any undesirable stench. Sweet and sour sauce. Can be eaten as an appetizer.

Roasted duck, red pork, Chinese sausage
Our favorite was the roast duck, as the meat was soft and tender without any stench.

The roasted red pork was interlaced with a bit of fat, not so fragrant and a bit dry.

The Chinese sausage was average. These menu items should be good when served hot straight from the meat station.

Braised Pork Knuckle

Braised Pork Knuckle
The item was contained in a barely noticeable simple iron box.

The bowl was quite cold, haha, but the pork knuckle was soft and tender, fragrant, with a slight aroma of Chinese herbs. A little sweet, but delicious.

Dumplings / Hargao

Dumplings / Hargao
Good taste and the Hargao was fragrant of the shrimp, but there was no shrimp meat to touch. Standard dumplings.

Lava Bun
The dough was soft but quite thick. The lava filling was rich and appropriately sweet and salty. Delicious enough to warrant a taste.

Red Pork Bun
Good dough and filling, but the bun size was quite large.

Desserts

A variety of ice cream, cakes, fresh fruits, iced Thai desserts, and the availability of the famous “Lod Chong” from Wat Chet.

Haagen Daz Ice Cream
Blog Great Harbour DSC 2991 1

Haagen Daz Ice Cream
On the day of our review, they had coffee, green tea, strawberry, and mango flavors. The quality was appropriate for the Haagen-Dazs brand.

The cashew nut topping was covered with a thin coating of caramel. Delicious.

We also liked the fact that there was a staff on hand to help scoop the ice cream for you.

Cakes
Delicious than initially expected, especially the chocolate cake. The cheesecake was acceptable. Have a try, as the pieces are small and should not be too filling.
