The Grilled and Chill Restaurant is located in the Montien Riverside Hotel’s garden situated along the Chao Phraya River, which is accessible by just walking through the hotel lobby and then exiting through the back.

The majority of their menu items consist of snacks but there are also simple dishes such as pasta and various desserts, as well as, their legendary Montien Hainanese Chicken Rice.

Montien Chicken Rice

360 baht – This is the second time we ordered this dish. It comes with a thick, white, plump chicken meat as usual, but I felt that this time the chicken was a bit more tender than the first time.

The chicken sesame oil-infused broth was tasty and fragrant as usual.

The accompanying soy sauce was both sweet and salty, and the slightly salty/sweet rice gave out a distinctive onion, ginger, garlic aroma.

The dish came with 4 types of dipping sauces.

Soybean paste (spicy) sauce was a bit of the hot and spicy type (spicy, sweet, and gave off a strong bean paste/ginger/garlic aroma). Soybean paste sauce (not spicy) was less spicy and consisted of a sweet and salty, soy sauce and mild ginger oil.

The soup is naturally sweetened from the braised gourd. You might overlook anything else, but this menu item is something that should not be missed.

One set should be able to satisfy 2 persons, or if not, you can also order an additional bowl of rice.

Butter Baked Salmon with Herbs

220 baht – Thick salmon slices, similar to thick and soft sashimi, baked with butter, onion, herbs, zucchini, tomato, and onions.

Skewered Pork Barbecue

150 baht – Spicy, sweet, fragrant barbecue sauce, while not too greasy, goes well with bread.

Spicy Stir-fried Spaghetti with Shrimp (Khee Mao)

250 baht – Fragrant “Khee Mao” spices. Intensely sweet, salty, and spicy. Full-flavored but slightly on the greasy side. The dish came with fresh 4-5 shrimps, which we guess were of the frozen type.

Fruit Tarts

250 baht – Highly recommended. Fresh and fragrant fruit-filled tarts.

Crispy dough, sweet caramel-scented sauce. but not too greasy. Goes well with several of the fruits, such as strawberries, blueberries, bananas, watermelons, cantaloupe, apple, orange, dragon fruit, and kiwi.
