For anyone who likes to indulge in seafood buffets, come take a look at their recommended menu items, together with the pros and cons of this restaurant.
+ Fresh seafood.
+ Deep-fried items are very well done as they are not greasy at all.
+ Polite staff (Fashion Island branch).
• All-you-can-eat buffet for 2 hours, including drinks and desserts.
• Several items come with a clear distinguishing flavor and are not mellowly flavored. They are more suitable to be taken with rice rather than as a snack or appetizer.
• You can smell the aroma of artificial lime from some of the sour-flavored dishes.
Laem Charoen Seafood is a seafood restaurant with more than 40 years of history that offer a wide range of dishes.
Personally, I think the taste of their food is not that outstanding, but the ingredients are very fresh, given in generous portions, and definitely worth the price.
This restaurant has several branches mostly located in popular shopping centers in Bangkok, where they can be conveniently accessed. They offer dishes that are easy to enjoy by yourself or with the whole family.
The seafood buffet must be booked through Hungry Hub at least 2 hours in advance. To browse the menu and book a buffet, click here.
The branch we reviewed was located at the Fashion Island shopping center. The restaurant is attractively decorated and makes you feel like being on a boat.

They are delicious, but the portion are also very large, suitable only for big eaters.
Deep-Fried Seabass With Signature Aromatic Fish Sauce
Big and well fried. Crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. Fragrant fish sauce. Delicious and worthy as one of the restaurant’s signature dish.
Lime Steamed Squid With Roe
Sour and salty soup, with a slight mix of sweetness, spiciness, and a slight artificial lime aroma. What is outstanding about this dish is that it comes with a generous serving of squid roe, the meat of which is firm and absolutely fresh.
Soft-Shell Crab Stir-Fried With Curry Powder
Well fried soft-shell crab. Not too dry nor greasy. The crab came with a rich taste and was perfectly supplemented by the sweet and salty sauce, and the strong aroma of the curry powder.
Hot and Sour Mixed Soup
A mixture of shrimp, sea bass, and squid. The soup is sweet and sour, and not too salty. Distinctly spicy and refreshing, but not so fragrant of the herbs used. Can be taken as an appetizer.
Fried Shrimp Cake
Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. The meat was not firm and contained coarse pieces of prawns. Well fried and not too greasy. Sweety taste with a distinct prawn and peppery aroma. Liked it.
Crab Fried Rice
Loose rice grains, and came with a good fragrance of the egg and pan. Slight sweet taste and perfectly salted. Not too strong flavor.
Though not too many crab pieces, the dish was very tasty. Worth ordering for anyone who likes crab fried rice.
Crab Roe Spicy Salad
Generous servings of crab roe. The crab aroma was very obvious but may be too overwhelming for some diners.
Distinctly sour and salty taste. Not too spicy nor sweet, fragrant lemongrass, mint leaves, and supplemented with a mild sour taste from the mango.
Pickled Prawns in Soy Sauce
Fresh and firm prawns, with a salty and sweet taste, and perfectly flavored with chili and garlic. The tails have been conveniently peeled. Absolutely loved this dish.
Not too big, but fresh, and was without the unwanted fishy smell, nor sliminess. Naturally sweet, and was enhanced by the accompanying condiments consisting of sweet chilli paste, crispy garlic, lime, and leucaena leaves. The hard shell was also conveniently removed.
Papaya Salad with Salmon
Sweet and salty crispy papaya. Not too sour nor spicy. The salmon had its clear distinctive aroma. However, the peanuts smelt a bit old.
Soft Oyster Omelet
The starch was soft and not too greasy, sprinkled with just the right amount of oysters. Delicious, but heavy on the stomach.
Stir-Fried Chayote Shoot
Crispy and juicy vegetables, without the unwanted veggie aroma. Perfect combination of sweet and saltiness. We ordered this dish to add a bit of fiber to our meal.
Fried Battered Squid with Fish Sauce
Fresh and bouncy squid, light crunchy batter, it had a mild salty flavor. It was very delicious, but the dish was quite big.
Steamed King Mackerel with Curry Paste
Steamed king mackerel and coconut curry, the taste is mellow sweet, salty, not too spicy, and had a mild curry fragrant. Love it!
Shrimp in Fish Sauce
Fresh firm and clean raw prawns in an aromatic fish source. It had a good amount of saltiness. Serve with spicy seasoning as you like.
Fried battered shrimp with Tamarind Sauce
Fresh shrimp, its batter is light, crunchy and not greasy. Its tamarind source had a good amount of sweetness and saltiness. Delicious.
Stir-fried Sea Bass with Black Pepper
The fish was large, lightly salty, slightly sweet, and had a mild smell of black pepper.
Yellow Sea Bass Curry
2-3 large pieces of fresh fish in an intense curry soup that came with sour, sweet, salty, spicy, and a distinctive clear turmeric smell.
In addition of fish, you can choose to put bamboo shoots, water mimosa shoots or coconut shoots into a soup.
New Zealand Mussels Baked with Herb
Big mussels with a plump and tender texture. This dish had a mild aroma of lemongrass and basil.
Spicy Mixed Seafood Salad
Very fresh seafood mixed with sour, sweet, salty and a not too spicy salad source. This dish has a strong aroma of lemongrass that might be too strong for some people.
Salted Fish Fried Rice
Soft and crumbly fried rice grains, with fragrant of salted fish and “wok hei“, but I think the taste is a bit too salty.
Seafood Dipping Sauce
Sour and sweet, but not too spicy. It had a fair amount of artificial lime scent.
We loved “Ruammit (traditional Thai iced dessert) ice cream” but it ran out of stock, so I ordered chocolate flavored instead, which was rich and sweet, perfect to end the meal.
