A Review of the Montien Chicken Rice Set

350 baht – Actually there are several sets with varying prices to choose from. Some sets also include dim sum and other menu items.

But we came here just for the chicken rice, so we ordered only the chicken rice set and got 1 bowl of rice, 1 generous serving of chicken, 4 kinds of sauces, and a bowl of soup.

We think that the portions is ideal for 2 persons. Eating alone might result in a very full stomach.

The rice has a mild, salty flavor that is chewy and tasty. It gave off a very distinct garlic aroma with a tinge of ginger. Oh, yes! Just perfect.

The chicken portions, of course, was more than the rice. The meat was soft and juicy, without being too mushy, and gave off a slight sesame oil aroma.

If your preference is chewy chicken, you will love this dish. But if you like soft and tender chicken meat, I would recommend Boon Tong Kee.

4 Types of Dipping Sauces

Soybean paste (spicy) sauce, is spicy, sweet, salty, and very fragrant with ginger, with a light soybean flavor. For those who like spicy sauces.

Soybean paste sauce (not spicy), comes with a distinct sweet and sour taste, followed by a slight saltiness. Not spicy, and gives off a ginger and soybean paste aroma.

The ginger sauce has a very mild flavor and aroma. For those who like ginger-based sauces.

The Dark soy sauce, is the standard black soy sauce, with a sweet and salty flavor.

The braised gourd soup comes with a distinctly sweet taste, very clean, and not greasy at all. You can sip it continuously. Addictive and enjoyable.
