A review of the Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok, a well-known luxury hotel on the Chao Phraya River. Though it has been around for a long time, it may not seem its old cheerful self, but they have still managed to maintain its standards for its room, food and services.

We were not disappointed at all from the experience we received.

Strong Points

• The Deluxe Corner River View room comes with a very beautiful view.
• Service is provided by very polite staff.

• Beds are soft and comfortable.

• Montien Chicken Rice
• Availability of swimming pool, fitness center, and spa.
• Good value for money.

Weak Points

• The pillows are a bit too thick but soft.
• The adjustment of the hot water temperature was a bit too difficult.
• The toilet did not have a bidet cleansing hose.
• Not near any shopping centers or convenience stores

Swimming Pool

Standard size outdoor pool with a view of the Chao Phraya River. Though not new, it was clean and functional.

Fitness Center

A medium-sized fitness center that can comfortably accommodate 15 guests at a time.

There is also a spa and sauna room available.

Restaurant

Food is another highlight of the Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok, with Dim Sum and Chinese dishes from The Emperor restaurant.

Grilled and Chill, a delightful restaurant along the Chao Phraya River. A must-try dish is the famous Montien Chicken Rice at The Café.

The Deluxe Corner River View Room

Rooms are generally 42 square meters in size, and come with a large closet, lounge chairs, and complimentary tea and coffee. They are decorated in a classic style similar to rooms in a mansion.

The highlight is a stunning view of the Chao Phraya River and Bangkok.

Cleanliness

Immaculately clean.

Sleep

Very quiet, with the availability of several pillows. A/C temperature is constant. Personally, I think the pillows were a bit too thick. But if thick pillows are to anyone’s liking, they should be able to get a good night’s sleep.

Bathroom

Spacious bathroom, with the availability of a bathtub and shower room. Comes complete with soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and hairdryer. The only disadvantage is that there is no bidet cleansing hose for the toilet.

Power Outlets

Most of them are 3-pin plugs located by the working desk. There are no outlets by the bed.

Working

Wide glass-top working desk which is easy to work on. However, it may not be conducive for using a mouse, and a mouse pad may be needed.

Internet Connection

Good for general use but may not be sufficient for playing online games.

Breakfast

Breakfast at the Montien Riverside Hotel Bangkok is served at The Café restaurant and is promoted as a mini buffet.

However, in reality, they have quite an extensive choice of food to choose from, which include food stations that provide egg menu choices, sausage, bacon, porridge, salad, fruits, bread, bakery items, coffee, and a lot of other choices.

But what impressed us was an incident where a large foreign father was hunched over in front of the coffee machine with his children;

Staff: Do you need any help, sir?
Father: Can I get hot cocoa from this machine?
Staff: So sorry sir, but the machine doesn’t have that item.
Father: Sorry kids…this machine doesn’t produce hot cocoa.
Staff: This machine can’t make it, but we can and will serve it at your table.
Father: Wow!! Thank you very much.

He laughed with delight.

The staff here are always smiling and were very polite. 5 stars to all of them!
